The background of the page can be a variety of colors, or images, or any number of other options. When considering the background, make sure you select a background color that will still be easily read by your visitors. Also, consider if people will want to print out your pages, if so, you may want to shy away from using a dark color that will use up a lot of their ink. Make sure if you decide you want a colored or textured background that you select a text color and size that will be easily read against it. The background can contribute a lot to the look and feel of the site, but you don't want it to overpower the site's content.
